My brother was telling me about you and your work...I think he said you used his girlfriend Claudia to do make up for a shoot not too long ago. Anyway, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders about business and what not and I was wondering if we could meet up at some point to talk about business and some ideas that I have for a business that I am starting. Today commemorates what would have been Thomas Alva Edison’s 164th birthday. The motion picture was another technology in which the United States achieved dominance in the British market during the course of the twentieth century. There were two decisive steps in the creation of the modern motion picture: the transition from the “peep show” to the projection of images over a distance, accomplished in the 1890s by Thomas A. Edison’s (1847-1931) Vitascope; and the talking picture, introduced in the American movie the Jazz Singer in 1927.
THE GOLDEN HOUR
Wikipedia defines it as:
“In photography, the golden hour (sometimes known as magic hour, especially in cinematography) is the first and last hour of sunlight during the day,[1]when a specific photographic effect is achieved due to the quality of the light.”
I do a lot of shooting, whether its for film and video, or for photography. Lately, I have been checking out other peoples stuff online and came across some cinematography that just looks beautiful. I asked myself, “why does that look so good?”, as if I didnt already know. I forgot. Forgot something that I was once so excited about that I would drop anything to go catch that moment. Sometimes we get so busy and wrapped up in our lives, our work, our families, that we miss The Golden Hour. The Golden Hour only lasts for a what technically is an hour but hurtles its way past us in what seems to be mere minutes. Sometimes its the last few moments of principal photography where every second that passes seems to be better than the first. Sometimes its that much needed dinner party with friends that you so desperately needed to catch up with. And sometimes, The Golden Hour is turning off the TV, turning off your cell phone and playing Scrabble with your wife, giving her your full attention.
